About
The Kindness Refuge is a Counselling and Social Work service based in South Australia.
The founder of The Kindness Refuge, Lesley, is kind and compassionate and loves to meet new people and hear their unique stories. She understands life, families and relationships are not always easy and she offers a safe non-judgmental space to explore difficult issues and imagine new possibilities.
Lesley has a Masters in Counselling Practice, Bachelor in Social Work (Hons) and a lot of life experience. Before completing her studies, Lesley worked for many years in the retail and hospitality sector and volunteered for over 10 years in a community visitors scheme. After graduating she worked as a Therapeutic Youth Worker and a Counsellor before deciding to devote all her time to The Kindness Refuge.
Lesley is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). This means Lesley follows a code of practice and ethics, her work is supervised and she is committed to continuing professional development.
Lesley uses an integrative approach drawing from therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focus, Art Therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. Lesley believes in the Person-Centered approach and will work with you to find what therapy best assists you.
